Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend, Edmee Bates Pearson went to the Arms of her Lord on Friday, the 7th of May, 2010. Well known by her family, friends and community for her giving spirit and servant’s heart, Edmee was born in Waycross, Georgia on September 5, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Richard Eugene and Mary Richard Haynes Bates. Edmee grew up in Waycross where she met and married her husband of 43 years, C L Pearson, Sr. The birth of their son, C L “Chuck”, Jr. Was the joy of Edmee’s life. Their bond as mother and son is to be envied and emulated and their long conversations about nothing were legendary. When Chuck married Krista, Edmee immediately had the daughter she had always wanted and then when her most beloved granddaughter, Andrea “Andi” was born she “had it all”. Andi was her shadow no matter the activity, cooking, sewing, working on the computer or picking up pecans, where there was on there was the other.
In 1969 Edmee moved to Valdosta to start a career with C & S Bank that lasted 3 decades. During that time she served as Branch manager of all four locations in Valdosta. Her fondest wish was to complete 30 years of service with the bank and then to keep her granddaughter. Edmee’s passion was service to children and serving the community. Her loving care of the “bed babies” of Northside Baptist Church as well as her faithful service to “Mothers Morning Out”, “Upward” and many other activities helped to fulfill her life. She served many years in the Quota Club in various service and leadership capacities. Most recently she became a charter member of the Azalea City Quota club.
Surviving are her husband, C L Pearson, Sr. of Valdosta; son and daughter in law Chuck and Krista Pearson of Barney; granddaughter, Andrea Pearson of Barney; brother and sister in law, Richard Eugene (Dick) and Judy Bates of Valdosta; sister, Rosemary and Paul Eversole of Sharpsburg, her very special Cruisin’ friend, Barbara Tomlinson of Valdosta; her extended family of nieces and nephews, Lori (Garry) Blan, Cindi (Rob) Gardner, Richie Bates, Paula (Aaron) Corley, Hendra Turberville, Harold (Amelia) Pearson, Bobby (Margaret) Pearson and numerous other relatives and special friends. Edmee was “honorary grandmother” to Brad Cosby, Peyton Cosby, Alex Chapman and Connor Chapman.
