Edith Norman Smith, 84, of Hahira died Sunday at the home of her daughter. She was born in Moultrie, Georgia on September 24, 1937 to the late Joe Wheeler and Ola McMullen Norman and had lived in Lowndes County for many years. Mrs. Smith was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Smith loved her church and church family, she worked for ten years as a dental assistant and twelve years in floral design.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons in law, Sherry Wilson of Hahira, Chris and Doug Hall of Moultrie, Lori and Kevin Conner of Jacksonville, FL; her grandchildren, Tommy and Michelle Clark, Brandon Hall, Courtney and Kelly VanHorn, Jason Hall, Casey and Justin Hancock, Bryce and Chelsea Hall, Maxwell Conner, Reagan Conner; 16-great grandchildren; three brothers and a sister in law, Nick Norman, Joe and Laverne Norman, Herman Norman and a brother in law, Homer Eldridge all of Moultrie, GA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Max L. Smith, a son in law, Ed Wilson, two sisters, Virginia Eldridge and Hazel Norman, a brother, Lincoln Norman.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Robby Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-7pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Maxwell Conner, Justin Hancock, Kelly VanHorn, Houston VanLandingham, Tommy Clark, Bryce Hall, Kevin Conner, Doug Hall and Nicolas BuenRostro will serve as an honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church Building Fund , 200 E. Park Avenue, Valdosta, GA 31602.
