Earl W. “Candy” Johnson, 89, of Lake Park, died on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. Born in Dasher on November 13, 1916, he was the son of the late John and Ettie Touchton Johnson. In the candy business for some 50 years Mr. Johnson became known as “Candy”. Friends and loved ones say “Candy” never met a stranger but if he did, they were friends when they parted. He was a charter member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church and the Christian Home Builders Association.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Pauline Peters Johnson of Lake Park, three children, JoAnn Johnson Dixon and spouse, Harold Dixon of Lake Park, Frances Johnson Lane and spouse Richard A. Lane in Cumming, Earl Wilbur Johnson, Jr. and spouse, Linda E. Johnson of Duluth; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Pauline J. Copeland of Valdosta.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Craig Rikard will officiate with burial following at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
