Earl Gaskins, Sr., 76, of Valdosta, died Friday, January 11, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center after battling a long illness. He was born on June 11, 1931 in Berrien County to the late Lester and Lessie Rogers Gaskins. Mr. Gaskins worked for Regent Mobile Homes for twenty one years, the Lowndes County School System for ten years and most recently with Ramada Inn and was a member of the First Assembly of God.
He leaves to mourn his death a loving, devoted and caring wife of thirty years, Marcell A. Gaskins of Valdosta, two sons, Earl Gaskins, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Danny Earl Gaskins of Lakeland, one stepdaughter, Mary Katherine Carter of Massachusetts, one brother and sister in law, Randall and Vernice Gaskins of Lake City, one sister and brother in law, Louise and Earnest Daniels of Naylor, three sisters in law and two brothers in law, Virginia and Foster Fletcher, Shirley Lupo, Alice and Larry, two brothers in law and one sister in law, William and Judy Barrett and James Barrett, six grandchildren, Kaelyn, Leann, Wayne, Eric, Judy Lynn and Steve, seven great grandchildren, special and caring friends, Edgar Thomas, Sr., Brenda Norwood and Gladys Carter. Mr. Gaskins is preceded in death by one son, Wade Preston Gaskins and one brother, Preston Gaskins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at two thirty p. m. at the First Assembly of God with Reverend Bill Cotterill and Chaplain Barry Hall officiating. He will be placed in the church at one p. m. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
