Dr.Joseph Harrison Brannen

Dr. Joseph Harrison Brannen, 86, of Valdosta died Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Hospice By The Sea in Boca Raton, Florida. He was born on November 12, 1921 in Moultrie to the late Dr. Clem C. and Anna Warren Clark Brannen and lived in Valdosta since 1953. Dr. Brannen was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a graduate of Emory University where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Also a graduate of Emory Medical School, Dr. Brannen practiced in Valdosta from 1953-1991 and was affiliated with Little Griffin Hospital, Pineview General Hospital and South Georgia Medical Center. He had served as Chief of Staff and Chief of Urology at South Georgia Medical Center.

Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Jo Martiel and Eric Wallace of Boca Raton, Fla., two sons and a daughter in law, William McIlvaine (Rusty) and Rosemary Brannen of Valdosta and Joseph Clem Brannen of Tucker, GA., four grandchildren, Benjamin McIlvaine Brannen of Valdosta, Mary Rebecca Brannen Karlowicz of Atlanta, Anders Erickson Wallace and Kiersten Vivian Wallace both of Boca Raton, Fla. Dr. Brannen was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian McIlvaine Brannen on April 19, 2007.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, September 13, 2008 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thomas Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
