DR. SHARON KINKADE

DR. SHARON KINKADE, 67, of Valdosta died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born on June 18, 1937 in McLeansboro, Illinois to the late Charles Omer Sims and Velma Ellen Snyder Sims and had lived in Valdosta since 1991. Dr. Kinkade graduated with her Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate Degrees from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She taught in the public schools in Southern Illinois for over thirty three years and taught for eleven years at Valdosta State University. She made numerous presentations over the years to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and administered the area Math Tournament for middle grade public schools in South Georgia. Dr. Kinkade was a member of the D. A. R. and a member of the P. E. O. She loved to travel having enjoyed over 40 cruises with her husband.

Survivors include her husband of forty four years, Jerry Kinkade of Valdosta, one son, Charles Bradley Kinkade of Ellsworth, WI., two grandsons, James Kinkade and Jacob Kinkade both of Ellsworth, WI., one sister, Suellen Sims Douglas of Kutttaw, KY. and one brother, Billy Sims of Alton, Ill., numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, December 31, 2004 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Mac Weaver officiating. Burial will be held at later date in McLeansboro, Illinois. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10am until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at First Baptist Church or to the Pearlman Cancer Society.
