Dr. Rosalie N. Allison

Dr. Rosalie N. Allison, 87, of Valdosta died Friday, February 24, 2017 at Langdale Place. She was born in Sharon, PA on June 16, 1929 to the late Frederick Nelson Newton, Jr. and Laura Octavia Quarterson Newton. Dr. Allison was a retired Valdosta State University Professor and a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church where she served on the administrative board. She was a member of the DAR, Daughters of the Colonies and former executive director of the Lake Park Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Allison taught at the University of Madrid in Spain for over twenty summers and co hosted tours.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Beth and Tom Robinson of Fitzgerald, grandchildren, Andy Robinson of Valdosta, Patrick Robinson of Denver, CO, Matthew and Maggie Robinson of Covington, GA, Scott and Aimee Robinson of Douglas, GA, Sarah Beth Robinson of Athens, GA, Anna Claire Robinson, Mary Rosalie Robinson and Laura Grace Robinson of Fitzgerald, GA and Carlie Allison of Palmyra, PA and several great grandchildren. Dr. Allison is preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. (Don) Allison, her son, Charles (Chuck) Donald Allison and her sister, Carol Ava Monas.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 at eleven a. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Willie Beasley officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from ten a. m. until service time at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Park Avenue United Methodist Church, Second Harvest Food Bank or to GA Special Olympics.
