Dr. Kaare Lovoll

October 21, 1923 — May 1, 2012

Dr. Kaare Lovoll, 88, of Valdosta died on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 following a short illness. He was born on October 21, 1923 in Alesund, Norway to the late Arnoldus and Elisabeth Myrold Lovoll. He was a World War II veteran serving with the Norwegian Royal Air Force and also served as a flight surgeon with the United States Air Force. He held a practice here in Valdosta for many years as well as working with South Georgia Medical Center as and attending emergency room physician. Dr. Lovoll was of the Lutheran faith.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Leslie and Rhonda Lovoll of DeWitt, Michigan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vera and Randy Cigan of Belleville, Michigan and Lisa and Jack Winningham of Valdosta; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Ottar and Odbjerg Lovoll of Alesund, Norway; two sisters, Liv Adlansvik of Oslo, Norway and Kjellaugh Moe of Asker, Norway; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Lovoll, two daughters, Kimberly Matheson and Cynthia Malone, and a brother, Arve Lovoll.

A memorial service for Dr. Kaare Lovoll will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May, 3, 2012 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Schappaugh officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday until service time. A private family committal will be held at a later date.
