Dr. John C. Huxford, 77, of Valdosta died Friday, August 1, 2008 at the Langdale Hospice House. He was born in Homerville on February 3, 1931 to the late Folks and Orie Kirkland Huxford. Dr. Huxford was a veteran of the Korean War and a retired professor with the College of Fine Arts at Valdosta State University. He was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ann McHugh Huxford of Valdosta, three sons and daughters in law, John Clifford and Kirsy Huxford of Miami, Fla., Folks McHugh (Mack) and Jenny Q. Huxford of Jacksonville, Fla., Calvitt Johnson and Julie Huxford of Valdosta, five grandchildren, Michael A. Huxford of Phoenix, AZ., Sara C. Huxford of Phoenix, AZ., Samuel C. Huxford of Miami, Fla., Francesca M. Huxford of Miami, Fla., Christopher James Huxford of Jacksonville, Fla., a sister in law, Jeanette Huxford of Homerville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lydia Huxford and a brother, Iverson H. Huxford.
Graveside services will be held at 3pm, Monday, August 4, 2008 at the Pine Forest Cemetery in Homerville with the Rev. Bob Pierce officiating.
