Dorothy Stalvey Avera, 76, of The Villages, FL, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at The Villages Regional Medical Center in Lady Lake, FL. She was born on June 8, 1932 in Lowndes County, GA to the late E. J. and Clara Louise Newton Stalvey. Mrs. Avera was a retired bank teller and a member of First Baptist Church of Leesburg, FL.
She is survived by her husband, Grover Avera of The Villages, FL, one son and daughter in law, Tony Grover and Carol Avera of Salt Lake City, Utah, three daughters and three sons in law, Cynthia and Edward McDonald of Raleigh, NC, Shannon and Mike Balas of Richmond Hill, GA, Dana and Neil Jones of Houston, TX, ten grandchildren, three sisters, Linda Plaire of Valdosta, Shirley Taylor of Hahira and Dianne Wright of Valdosta, four brothers, Jimmy Stalvey of Adel, Johnny Stalvey, Jackie Stalvey and Gerald Stalvey, all of Hahira. Mrs. Avera is preceded in death by one sister, Mary Helen Blackwell and four brothers, Buford Stalvey, Lonnie Stalvey, Lamar Stalvey and Harry Stalvey.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 6, 2009 at eleven a. m. in the chapel of the Martin McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Dillard Ensley and Reverend Gary Blanchard officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Thursday at the funeral home.
