Dorothy Morgan Mackey, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, July 20, 2006, at her home. Born in Metter, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Kate Eubanks Morgan. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Mackey was involved in numerous civic and cultural activities throughout her life.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Jimmy Dewar of Valdosta, her sons and daughters-in-law, Mac and Susan Mackey of Valdosta, William and Pam Mackey of Valdosta; grandchildren, Lee and Brandi Mackey, Elizabeth and Jonathan Burns, Mary Catherine Mackey, Jackie and Mary Oliver and Maxwell Oliver all of Valdosta; four great grandchildren, Mac and Morgan Mackey, Howell and Berkley Burns of Valdosta; her sister, Eleanor Howard of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Berkley Mackey and a sister, Ruthie Sherman.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Reverend Thomas Mason, Pastor of First United Methodist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Condolences may be conveyed on the obituary page at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
