Dorothy Mae Dennis Rogers, 72, of Echols County went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Valdosta on May 25, 1946 to the late George Roe and Remmie Mae Terrell Dennis. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Wright’s Chapel United Methodist Church and retired as Chief Deputy Clerk for Echols County Superior Court. She loved her family being together and supported all of her grandchildren in their activities. She was a strong, sweet and giving person. She was the pillar of her family, who believed and taught strong family values.
Survivors include her three sons and two daughters in law, James Harley Rogers, Samuel Doyle and Rachel Rogers, Richard Dennis and Nora Leigh Rogers all of Echols County; her six grandchildren whom she loved and adored, Haley Rogers, T.J. Rogers, Harley Rogers, Caleb Rogers, Jacob Rogers, Chloe Rogers; four sisters and two brothers in law, Mildred and Fred Maxwell of Jacksonville, FL, Roberta Saunders and Homer Robertson, Molly Sauls both of Valdosta, Kathy Dennis of Lake Park; sister in law, Bonnie Dennis of Echols County; numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Samuel (Jimmy) Rogers; two sisters, Minnie Ruth Goodwin and Doris Lewis and seven brothers, Sam Dennis, Edwin Dennis, George Dennis, Jr., Richard Dennis, Charles Dennis, Gene Dennis and Eston Dennis.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Wright’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. James Davis and Rev. Jacque Asbel officiating. Burial will follow in Wright’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:30pm-3:00 at the church. Memorials may be made to Wright’s Chapel Church.
