Dorothy M. Jones

Dorothy M. Jones, 88, of Valdosta, died on Monday, August 27, 2007, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on June 11, 1919 in Miami, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Louis Edgar and Bessie Mae Cook Brown. Mrs. Jones was a Charter Member of Crossroads Baptist Church where she was Secretary of her Sunday School Class. She loved to play bridge and was an accomplished seamstress.

Survivors are her sons and daughters in law, Bobby and Pat Jones of Athens, Dennis and Melissa Jones of Valdosta; her grandchildren, Keri and Chris Hood of Adrian, Craig and Stephanie Jones of Vidalia, Jeff Tomlinson and Virginia Thompson of Valdosta; six great grandchildren; and a brother, Ellis Brown of Tifton. Her husband, Robert A. Jones, Jr. and a daughter, Gayle Tomlinson, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Crossroads Baptist Church. Dr. Ken Alford, Senior Pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church and Reverend Charlie Scarbrough, Pastor to Seniors at Crossroads Baptist Church will officiate. Mrs. Jones will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
