Dorothy Martin, 77, of Valdosta died Tuesday, November 21, 2006 after a long illness. She was born on February 3, 1929, in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late Harry Clyde and Eula Perkins Lazenby. She graduated from Southern Seminary in Buena Vista, Virginia and spent most of her adult life as a homemaker. Mrs. Martin was the widow of the late Wade Martin. She had lived in Valdosta for the past 7 years and was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Survivors are three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Kathe Martin of Lafayette, CO, Doug Martin of Greensboro, NC, Matt and Becky Martin of Valdosta, GA; two grandchildren, Benjamin Martin and Katherine Martin of Valdosta; one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Monie Lazenby of Fort Myers FL; one niece, Sarah Lazenby of Fort Myers, FL; one nephew Bill Lazenby of Fort Myers, FL; numerous cousins and extended family, as well as many friends.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2007 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in Bluefield, West Virginia. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Park Avenue United Methodist Church Building Fund.
