Dorothy L. Kent

Dorothy L. Kent, 84, of Lake Park, died on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at her home. Born in Jasper, Florida, on February 4, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Loma Petty Hodges. Dorothy was a retired Vice President of First Liberty Bank, formerly Valdosta Federal Savings and Loan. She was a member of Francis Lake Baptist Church. Though she had no biological children, Dorothy’s legacy is seen in the lives of the many children she touched with her love and support over the years.
Widow of the late Bobby G. Kent, Dorothy is survived by a brother and sister in law, Ronald and Lucille Hodges of Jacksonville, Florida; nieces, Monica (Brian) Blaquiere of Jacksonville, Florida, Marilyn (Buddy) Turner of Valdosta; nephews, Ronald Jr., (Tina) Hodges of Middleburg, Florida, Jimmy (Barbara) Hughes of Hahira, Howard Brooks, and Wayne Hughes of Valdosta; a special cousin, Elmer Tripp of Ayden, North Carolina and a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Reverend Eldridge Lyons will officiate.
