Dorothy Hughes Rountree

Dorothy Hughes Rountree, 74, of Valdosta died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Brooks County on December 16, 1936 to the late Henry Bracey, Sr. and Gladys (Missy) Watson Hughes. Mrs. Rountree was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lake Park and had worked at ITT Metal Products and Texture Tex. She enjoyed babysitting and working in the church nurseries. Mrs. Rountree was an Atlanta Braves fan.

Survivors include her husband, Junior Rountree, son and daughter in law, Lester and Sarah Rountree, daughter, Theresa Rountree all of Valdosta, four grandchildren, Matthew Knighton, Amanda (Clay) Parker, Wesley Rountree and Justin Rountree, brother and sister in law, Bobby and Sis Hughes of Sarasota, Fla., two sisters, Joyce Simpson of Lake Park and Betty Hughes of Lilburn, brother in law and sister in law, James (Jim) and Jerrie Rountree of Naylor. She was preceded in death by two infant sons, three brothers, H. B. (Pete) Hughes, Jr., John Thomas Hughes and Beverly Gene Hughes.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, May 7, 2011 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Luke officiating. Burial will follow in the Corinth Cemetery.
