Dorothy Holt Smith

Dorothy Holt Smith, 85 of Lake Park died on Friday, January 13, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. Born on December 23, 1920 in Vicksburg, MS, she was the daughter of the late A. Z. Holt, Sr. and Virginia Holt Denson and the widow of Charles Bertram Smith. Mrs. Smith had worked in Washington, D. C. for the F.B.I. and later worked for Mead Packaging in Atlanta. She then was a florist in Atlanta for several years and loved arranging flowers. She was a resident at Baptist Village where she had many loving friends as well as a loving and supportive staff. She was a member of Christ Fellowship Church.

Survivors are a daughter, Barbara Mize of Valdosta; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles, Jr. and Connie Smith of Morehead, KY, Jack Smith and Allen Smith both of Atlanta; grandchildren and their spouses, David and Lee Ann Smith of Atlanta, Dana and Steve Simpson of Murfreesboro, TN; Kevin and Stephanie Mize, Keith Mize all of Valdosta, Bert and Becky Smith of Kentucky, Stacy and Tom LaMotte, Angie and Mark McMurtry all of Ohio, Beth and Jeremy Self, Becky Smith, Allye Smith and Britnee Smith all of Atlanta and twenty-one great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen Zachary Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Ken Webb officiating. Graveside committal services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Fairview Memorial Cemetery in Stockbridge. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Christ Fellowship Building Fund.
