Dorothy H. (Dot) Stalvey, 82, of Hahira died Monday, June 22, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Lowndes County on September 16, 1926 to the late Holcombe and Mary Edith Drake Strozier and was a lifelong resident of Lowndes County. Mrs. Stalvey was an active member of the Hahira Freewill Baptist Church and a retired bookkeeper with Citizens Community Bank. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, active worker in the Hahira Honeybee Festival and enjoyed working in her flowers.
Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Debbie and Mark England, a son and daughter in law, Jimmy and Rita Stalvey all of Hahira, three grandchildren, Amber Stalvey, Jordan Hall and Danielle England, brothers in law and sisters in law, Tommy and Nan Stalvey of Hahira, Jackie and David Bayless, Frances and Harvey Mays and Peggy Folsom all of Valdosta and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Collis Eugene (Gene) Stalvey, a brother, James Strozier, a sister, Mary Strozier and a sister in law and brother in law, Betty and Earl Hambrick.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, June 25, 2009 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Auther Knight, Rev. Doug Mays, Rev. Roger Mays and Rev. James Stringer officiating. Burial will follow in the Cat Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
