Dorothy G. Mahan

On Friday, May 19, 2023, Dorothy G. Mahan passed away following complications due to surgery. Mrs. Mahan was born in Arkansas on March 9, 1946, raised in Sacramento, California, and lived her life in Oregon, Hawaii, Virginia, England, Oklahoma, Nevada, and finally Lake Park, Georgia, as the beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to a dedicated military family. Mrs. Mahan spent most of her life dedicated to her family, her love of travel, and her fur-babies. She enjoyed many hobbies including cards/games, pickle ball, baking (special family recipes), and a fondness for Candy Crush.

Mrs. Mahan is survived by her husband, John W. Mahan Jr., her three children Rashelle D. Will (Alan), John W. Mahan III (Carrie), and Aaron A. Mahan, her three grandchildren Kyle S. A. Mahan (Ella), Cole P. Mahan, and Joseph C. Mahan, her two step grandchildren Lenore G. Will and Misty W. Portner (Chris), her two great grandchildren Beau Z. Mahan and Raelynn R. Mahan, and her two step great grandchildren Max A. Portner and Amelia S. Portner.

A small intimate family gathering will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, to celebrate her life. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family asks that a contribution be made in Dorothy Mahan’s name to the Humane Society of Valdosta/Lowndes County in lieu of flowers.
