Dorothy Dowling Batten

Dorothy C. Dowling Batten, 84, of Valdosta, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Knoxville to the late Tom & Minnie Dowling, she had lived in Knoxville, TN before moving to Valdosta five years ago. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Knoxville, TN.

Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, Joe & Terry Batten, of Dover, DE, and Bob & Lawanna Batten, of Valdosta; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Mrs. Batten is preceded in death by her husband, John Batten and several brothers and sisters.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Knoxville, TN. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Knoxville, TN. The family will receive friends at Rose Mortuary Mann Memorial Chapel in Knoxville, TN on Friday evening from 6 until 7:30 p.m. There will be a Prayer Service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. following the visitation. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Latin American Mission of Forrest Park Church of Christ.
