Dorothy Dees Beggs, 90, of Valdosta, and more recently of Lake Park, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at the Langdale Hospice House after a short illness.
She was born November 19, 1924, in Clyattville, a daughter of the late Carnett and Clara McPhail Dees. Ms. Beggs was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Park, and had previously been a member of First Baptist Church, Valdosta, and Northside Baptist Church, Valdosta, where she had taught Sunday school. She loved her Lord, family, church and friends, enjoyed sharing the Lord with others and prayed faithfully. She always had a wonderful sense of humor and was always very content. When you left her side, you always felt blessed. Ms. Beggs had retired from Life and Casualty Insurance.
She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Pat and Bobby Jones of Athens, and Linda Rehberg of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren and their spouses, Keri and Chris Hood of Wrightsville, Craig and Stephanie Jones of Vidalia, Brian and Melinda Rehberg of Lake park, and Jim and Debbie Rehberg of Valdosta; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Miriam Fletcher of Statesboro and Marion Copeland of Lake Park; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Julia Dixon and the staff at Baptist Village, Lake Park. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and their wives, Edwin and Frances McIntyre Dees, William F. Dees, C. (Sam) and Marjorie Webb Dees, and Gerald Mixon and Betty Smith Dees; two sisters and their husbands, LaNell and Stanley Sroczynski, and Helen and Buford Watson; and two brothers-in-law, Frank Fletcher and J.T. Copeland.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Halcyon Hospice, Hospice of South Georgia, and Baptist Village for their wonderful care.
The Funeral Service for Ms. Beggs will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2015, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Dawson, Rev. Douglas Reddick and Rev. Tommy Bussey officiating. Interment will follow at Redland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
