Doris Tyson Cannon

Doris Tyson Cannon, 86, of Atlanta and formerly of Valdosta passed away Friday, October 9, 2009 after an extended illness. She was born on January 3, 1923 in Jacksonville, Florida and grew up in Valdosta, attended Valdosta City Schools and Atlanta has been her home for the past eighteen years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jinks Dennis Cannon, parents, Robert C. Tyson and Ruby Bass Hadley and her stepmother, Lula Wheeler Tyson. She enjoyed antique dealing and estate sales with ceramics as her specialty.

Survivors include her three sons, Robert D. (Kathleen) Cannon of Scottsdale, Arizona, Roy L. (Donna) Cannon of Atlanta, Georgia, Ronald E. (Lou Anne) Cannon of Alpharetta, four brothers, Robert C. Tyson, Jr., Gerald Tyson, Wayne Tyson and James Tyson, one sister, Sara Tyson Shaw, grandsons, Gary N. (Tracy) Cannon, Ryan Cannon, Matthew Cannon, Clay Cannon and Chris Cannon, granddaughter, Kellee C. (Paul) King, five great grandchildren, Anne Rankin Cannon, Gary N. Cannon, Jr., Cannon Lane Lee, Georgia King and Mason Blanton King.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5-7pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the Oakridge Cemetery in Tifton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, P. O.
