Doris P. McCambridge, 93, of Valdosta died on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Langdale Place following a lengthy illness. She was lovingly cared for by the staff at Langdale Place for over 10 years. She was born on February 19, 1930, in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the late Joseph and Jeanie McKee Pendleton. She was the eldest and longest surviving of the 5 children in her family. She was also the first in her family to graduate from college. Mrs. McCambridge was a retired educator having taught at St. John’s Catholic School and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
She is survived by her four children and spouses, John T., Jr. (Jack) and Patti McCambridge of Chesapeake, Virginia, Barbara and George Tomyn of Ocala, Florida, Cindy McCambridge of Ocala, James H. II (Jim) McCambridge of Quitman; five grandchildren and spouses, Claire and David Church, Carrie and Greg Minerva, Keirstin McCambridge, Scout McCambridge, and Finch McCambridge; great-grandchildren, Walker Church, Weatherly Church, Eloise (Weezie) Church, Amelia (Mia) Minerva, and Ava Minerva. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 yrs., Lt. Col. (ret.) John T. McCambridge.
A funeral mass for Doris P. McCambridge will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 10:30 am followed by a graveside service at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
