Doris Mcdonald Cowart

Doris McDonald Cowart, 82, of Hahira and beloved wife of the late Charlie K. Cowart for forty two years died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Lowndes County on January 8, 1929 to the late John Perry and Rosa Lee Alcorn McDonald. Mrs. Cowart was an active member of the Pineview Baptist Church where she held various positions as an officer, teacher and choir member. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Mrs. Cowart was a graduate of Hahira High School, a member of the Shiloh Home Demonstration Club and enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. She enjoyed the beauty of being a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters and a son in law, Linda and James Hall, Phyllis Moots all of Hahira, grandchildren, Jim (Donna) Hall, Michelle (Dusty) Cottle, Traci Haskins, Will (Jana) Moots and Brooke Moots, great grandchildren, Chase and Charlie Cottle, Trevor, Kayla and Kinsey Haskins, Hunter, Hannah and Hayden Hall, Will, III and Alyssa Moots, her sister, Ruby Daughdrill of Valdosta, two nieces who were raised as her sisters, Vivian Rumker of Valdosta and Mildred McLeod of Lake City, Fla., sister in law, Helen McDonald of Hahira and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie K. Cowart, a sister, Carrie Lee Patten and three brothers, Jessie McDonald, Wilfred McDonald and Leonard McDonald.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Friendship Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Badley officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Pineview Baptist Church.
