Doris Crawford Blanton

Doris C. Blanton, 86, of Valdosta, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2011, at Heritage House Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

She was born December 16, 1924 in Waycross, a daughter of the late Elvie W. and Mary Broughton Crawford. Ms. Blanton was a member of Northside Baptist Church., enjoyed sewing and yard work, and loved taking care of her family and helping with their needs.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Blanton Woods of Valdosta; one son and two daughter-in-laws, Kevin M. and Rhonda Blanton of Adel, and Paulette Collins of Gainesville; five grandchildren, Angie Moore and husband Kelly of Gainesville, Jacob Jones and wife Mary of Chesapeake, VA, Jadyn Jones Sheffield and husband Clay of Gainesville, and Garrett Blanton of Adel; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Madge Albers of Waycross, and Marie Moore and husband Al of Brunswick; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Phillip C. Collins; and two sisters, Lois North and Wilma Steedley.

Funeral Services for Ms. Blanton will be held at 10:00 am Friday, February 11, 2011, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta, with Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 pm Friday at Kettle Creek Cemetery, Waycross. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
