Donzell “Don” Reid was born October 5, 1936 in Pitts, GA. The Lord took him home on March 17, 2018 after years of an unrelenting fight against cancer. He served in the Army from 1954-1956 where he was most recognized for his rifle marksmanship excellence. After the service, he attended Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, GA. He married the love of his life and best friend Martha “Bee” Fraser from Arabi, GA, in 1957 and they had 60+ wonderful years together. Besides his wife, “Bee”, he loved primitive camping, hunting, fishing, boating, watersports, and gardening as a nature enthusiast. He exceeded in “out of the box thinking” in his architectural designs.
Survivors include the love of his life, Martha “Bee” Fraser Reid, his daughters and sons-in-law, Terrie and Martin Hendrix, of Columbus, GA, Donna and Dean Croy, of Valdosta, his son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Gina Reid, of Valdosta, his grandchildren, Curtis M. Hendrix, of Panama City, FL, Ashley and Jason Spooner, of Estero, FL, Justin Hendrix, of Columbus, GA, John M. Croy, of North Augusta, SC, Sarah and Jamie Phelps, Tiffany and Brandon Tabor, and Whitney and Eddie Bhawanie, all of Valdosta, and nine great grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents Ames Moran Reid and Bessie Seay Reid, his sisters, Verrell Presley, Maxine McGraw, Aundeen Almand, and his great grandson Able S. Phelps.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Robertson officiating.
