Donny Owen Shiver

Donny Owen Shiver, 56, of Valdosta, died Friday, December 6, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Valdosta on September 22, 1956 to the late George William, Sr. and Hilda Laverne Hall Shiver. Mr. Shiver was formerly employed with Norfolk Southern Railway as a Trainman, was a member of Redland Baptist Church and a member of the Rocky Knight's Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Shiver loved his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Ginger Sims Shiver of Valdosta; two daughters and sons in law, Jennifer and Brian Gay, Julie and Travis Roberts, all of Valdosta; three grandchildren, MacKenzie and Griffin Gay and Reid Roberts; mother in law and father in law, Beth and Howard Lawson and the late William Sims; sisters and brothers in law, Evelyn and Ed Lund, Gayle and Wayne Dawkins; brother and sister in law, George W. (Pete) Jr. and Dawn Shiver; sisters in law and brothers in law, Ann Hart, Elaine and Jamie Southall, Thomas and Cathy Sims, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 at eleven a. m. at Redland Baptist Church with Reverend Jay Watkins, Reverend Brian Gay and Mr. Wayne Dawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from ten until eleven a. m Monday at the church.
