Donnie Ray Alday, 69, of Valdosta died on Monday, April 17, 2017 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on February 19, 1948 in Donalsonville, Georgia to the late John and Fosteen Alday. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps as served his country during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a truck driver with Davis Trucking and was a member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. He also played country music with his band The Waysiders at Mt. Zion Music Hall and other places in Quitman.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Rose Alday and his son and daughter-in-law, Donald Ray and Shirley Alday all from Valdosta; his brother, Robert Alday of Jankin, Georgia.
A memorial service for Donnie Ray Alday will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Dave officiating. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane.
