Donald Plenn Phelps

Donald Plenn Phelps, 89, of Hahira, died Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at his residence. He was born on June 22, 1922 in Mitchell County, GA to the late Mack Tallie and Mamie Dillingham Phelps. Mr. Phelps was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Simpson Phelps of Hahira, two daughters and son in law, Brenda and Edward Cannington of Valdosta and Beverly Phelps of Echols County, two sons and daughter in law, Ronald Phelps and Barbara of Valdosta and Daniel and Joanna Phelps of Lake Park, seventeen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, two brothers and sisters in law, M. T. and Rita Phelps of Astor Park, FL and Raymond and Myra Phelps of Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Phelps is predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Pauline Courson Phelps and four sons, Melvin Phelps, Jimmy Phelps, Timothy Phelps and Michael Phelps.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 16, 2011 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Alton Hardee and Reverend Jerry Long officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p. m. at the funeral home on Saturday. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Grace Hospice, 101 Northside Drive, Valdosta, GA.
