DONALD HENRY SMITH, 68, of Fort Valley, GA passed away Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon after a short illness. He was born in Kannapolis, North Carolina to Mae Tomlinson Smith and the late Lucious Henry Smith. Mr. Smith joined the United States Air Force in 1956 and served for six years. He was a police officer with the City of Valdosta in the 1960’s and then served in law enforcement in Sayre, Oklahoma and retired in Fort Valley as an auto mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Smith of Ft. Valley, two sons, Donald (Donnie) Smith, Jr. of Sayre, OK and Bradley Carl Smith of Ft. Valley, a daughter and son in law, Nicole and Ed Lange of Macon, his mother, Mae Tomlinson Smith of Valdosta, three sisters and two brothers in law, Patsy Smith Pitts, Brenda Smith Griffis and Gary Griffis all of Valdosta, Judy Smith Jordan and Corky Jordan of Hahira and three grandchildren, Katelyn Lange, Rachel Lange and Zachary Lange all of Macon. He was preceded in death by his father, Lucious Henry Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, August 21, 2007 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery.
