Donald Harrell Hanks, 80, of Hahira died on Monday, November 23, 2020 at Langdale Hospice House after a lengthy illness of many years. He was born in Berrien County, Georgia on September 19, 1940 to the late Everett and Myrtice Bullard Hanks and had lived in this area all of his life.
Mr. Hanks was a member of the Hahira First Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. He had worked as a bookkeeper with Standard Oil Company, co-owned Hanks Radio and TV with his Dad and retired from Valdosta State Prison in 2002 after thirteen years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Faye Tomlinson Hanks of Hahira; his daughter and son in law, Mindy Hanks Herring and Sean Herring of Lake Park; his three grandchildren, Emily Warren of Hahira, Eli Warren of Hahira, Ella Warren of Hahira and Lake Park; three step grandsons, Drew Herring of Tallahassee, FL, Zane Herring of Tallahassee, FL, Aiden Herring of Lake Park; brothers in law and sisters in law, B. J. and Joyce Tomlinson of Hahira, Joyce and Bruce Murphine of Adel; nieces and nephews, Vicki Rountree, Tisha Tomlinson, Stacy Tomlinson, Brian Tomlinson, Heather Murphine Seago, Wes Nichols, Tina Bryan Nichols and numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Hahira First Baptist Church with Rev. David Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery in Cook County.
