Donald Gilbert Dukes, 81, of Statenville, died on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Piedmont Hospital in Jasper, Ga. He was born on November 6, 1935 in Jasper, Florida to the late Troy and Mavel Dedge Dukes. He was self-employed in the timber industry his whole life and then served as the Echols County Road Superintendent. He was a member of the Masonic Alapaha Lodge #209 in Statenville and with the Lions Club of Echols County. Mr. Dukes was a member of the Statenville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Tonda and Scott Ramsey of Ranger, Georgia; three grandchildren and their spouses, Ben and Liz Ramsey of Nashville, Tennessee, Lauren Ramsey of Jasper, Georgia, Adam and Megan Ramsey of Dallas, Georgia; five great-grandchildren, Elijah, Sean, Caden, Anna, and Nolan; a brother and sister-in-law, Aldean and Ann Dukes of Dasher, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Bob Baehne of Fernandina Beach, Florida, a sister, Brenda Lehman of Lake Park, Georgia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his wife, Annah Lou Dukes.
A graveside service for Mr. Donald Gilbert Dukes will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Statenville Cemetery.
