Donald (Don) Carter, 77, of Lake Park peacefully passed away on Monday, November 6th at South Georgia Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 8th, 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Grover Hudson Carter and Edna Ruby Peeples Carter.
Don was a dedicated logger for Echols Timber before retiring, and he was a huge fan of Elvis Presley. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Falcons and loved talking about his ‘66 GTO. Don was happily married to the absolute love of his life, Edna Faye (Thornton) Carter, for an incredible 50 years. He attended church at Pentecostal Deliverance Center in Jennings, FL.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife Edna Faye Carter, of Lake Park; his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Carrie Carter, of Lake Park; his daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Chad Rogers, of Lake Park. Don will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Triston Carter, Kirsten Carter, Ashton Carter, Brooke and Levi Herring, Drew Raynor, Madison Rogers, and Tyler Rogers; as well as his great-grandchildren Harper Carter, and Kensley Rogers. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. Don was preceded in death by his brother, Gover H. Carter II, and two sisters, Theda Chaney, and Charlotte Dickerson.
A funeral service honoring Don’s life will be held at 2PM on Friday, November 10th, 2023 at Sardis Baptist Church, followed by burial at Carter Cemetery. Friends and loved ones are invited to visitation on Thursday night from 6-8PM at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park, Georgia.
