Donald David Hunter, 66, of Lake Park died Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Select Specialty Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida. He was born on September 4, 1954, in Valdosta to the late James E., Sr. and Bertha Plair Hunter and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Hunter was a Baptist and had worked for Crackin Good Bakery and Hood Packaging. He was a 1972 graduate of Lowndes High School and enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved animals. Mr. Hunter was an avid Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldog Fan.
Survivors include his twin sister, Sandra Watson of Naylor; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Karen Hunter, Robert and Gail Hunter, Van and Lenora Hunter all of Valdosta, brother-in-law, James Brooks of Naylor, sister-in-law, June Hunter of Vidalia, his daughter, Rebecca Hunter, a special lifetime friend, numerous nieces and nephews, his cat, Rocky. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dale Hunter, Freddie Hunter, and Jimmy Hunter, sister Barbara Brooks, and grandmother Lubie Godwin.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Wednesday, August 4, 2021, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with his nephew, Rev. Jim Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Carter Cemetery in Echols County. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12pm-1pm at the funeral home.
