Donald Ashley Lawson

Donald Ashley Lawson, 78, of Hahira died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the Langdale Hospice House after a brief illness. He was born in Hahira on June 18, 1930 to the late Oathal A. and Fannie Bostick Lawson and was a lifelong resident of Hahira. Mr. Lawson was a retired truck driver for Barfield Oil and Gas Company and had worked for Citizens Community Bank for the past fifteen years and loved to go to the races. He was a member of the Hahira First Baptist Church and the Hahira Masonic Lodge #346. Mr. Lawson was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served for eight and a half years.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Lawson of Hahira, two daughters and a son in law, Lynn and Kenny Locher of Hahira, Vickie Tharp of Valdosta, a grandson, Eric Locher of Hahira, great grandson, Bennett Locher of Hahira, his nephews, Joe and Maxine Kendrick of Tallahassee, Fla., Jack Kendrick, Ray Mixon of Hawkinsville and Billy Mixon, nieces, Kathy Martinez, Sheryl Edwards both of Rockledge, Fla. and Patricia Allison of Sulfolk, VA., great nephew, Robert Kendrick, great niece Jennifer Kendrick, sisters in law and brother in law, Frances Lawson Lynch of Edenton, NC., Mary Ingram, Dorothy Jordan both of Hahira, Christine and Walter Denmark, Barbara Sorrell both of Valdosta and Virginia Sorrell of Tallahassee, Fla and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother in law, Willouise and Harry Kendrick and a brother, Edward Lee Lawson.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, January 3, 2009 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Boykin and Dr. A. H. (Skip) Van Nus officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
