Don A. Corbett, 82, of Valdosta passed away Thursday August 22, 2019 at his residence following a short illness. He was born in Valdosta on July 28, 1937 to the late Austin and Mae Rouse Corbett. Mr. Corbett was a retired conductor for Southern Railroad and was a member of West End Presbyterian Church. An avid guitarist, he was active at the Monticello Jamboree. He enjoyed picking and playing his extensive collection of guitars.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and David Jarrett of Tampa, FL; Trina and Donnie Thomas of Valdosta; six grandchildren; Jordan, Joshua & Tanner Jarrett of Tampa, Jamie and Shana Thomas of Valdosta, Brittany and Allen Folsom, Ansley and Justin Haskin of Hahira; seven great-grandchildren, Allie and Tucker Thomas, Holt, Tate and Greer Folsom, Graham and Granger Haskin; a brother-in-law, James Herring; special niece, Dale Harris; special caregiver, Sharon Meriweather and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mr. Corbett is predeceased by his wife, Geraldine M. Corbett, a daughter, Donna Corbett, two sisters, Alvis Herring and Blanche Kennedy; two brothers, Tim Corbett and Harry Corbett.
Funeral services will be held Sunday August 25, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Reverend John Akers officiating, interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 Saturday evening at the funeral home.
