DOLLIE BELL TYSON, 88, of Hahira died Monday, November 19, 2007 at her home. She was born on May 17, 1919 in Hahira to the late William Franklin and Ollie Viola Carter Mixon and was a lifelong resident of Hahira. Mrs. Tyson retired after thirty six years of service as a grocery store assistant manager and clerk. She was a member of the Hahira First Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. Mrs. Tyson raised all of her grandchildren and many of the children of Hahira and was known as “Granny Tyson”.
Survivors include two daughters and sons in law, Elizabeth and Joe Sizemore of Satsuma, Fla., Leera and Jack Zeigler of Hahira, two sons and daughters in law, Lloyd and Marsha Tyson, Felton and Linda Tyson all of Hahira, her grandchildren and their spouses, Christal and Tom McCullough, Tim and Kimberly Tyson, Todd Tyson and his fiance’ Collette Summers, April Tyson, Brandie and Robert Fennell, Brian and Dee Sumner, Clint and Shea Zeigler, Chance Zeigler and his fiance’ Lauren Lindsey, 14-great grandchildren, one brother and sister in law, Raymond and Mollie Mixon of Huntsville, Ala., numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ethridge W. Tyson.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at the Hahira First Baptist Church with Rev. David Gordon and Mr. Cleo Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Mrs. Tyson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. The family received friends on Tuesday from 7-9pm at the funeral home.
