Diane Templeton Brown

Diane Templeton Brown, 81, of Valdosta, passed away peacefully at her home on April 16, 2015. She was born on September 23, 1933 to the late C.O. & Ruth Eubanks Templeton. She grew up here, graduated from Valdosta High School, and was always proud to let people know that she had always lived in Valdosta. Diane loved working with the residents in the Templeton family of nursing homes which included Heritage House, Crestwood and Holly Hill nursing homes and she was proud of her father having built them. She was a Food Service Supervisor for several years before getting her Nursing Home Administrators license. Her love for people also extended to the dogs that she & husband John, had. Over the years they had three special ones. The dogs were so special Diane made sure they had Kentucky Fried chicken twice a day! After her retirement, she and John enjoyed various activities and caring for their dogs. At an early age she gave her life to Christ and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Diane loved the Lord and always wanted to give Him honor and glory in whatever she did. In her later years she enjoyed studying her Bible with her daughter and others. She liked doing for others and tried to make sure those around her were always taken care of or had what they needed.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her three daughters and two sons in law, April & Charlie DuPont of Newport News, VA, Faith Stover of North East, PA, Temple & Lowell Hammock of Valdosta; seven grandchildren, Danielle Anderson, Charlton (Jen) DuPont, Jes Stover, Katie (Mark) Warren, Seth (Tara) Stover, Blake Boswell and Glenn Boswell. Also surviving are two sisters, Ruth T. Adkins and Olleta T. Baggett, both of Valdosta and her brother and sister in law, Charles O. Jr. & Betty Dow Templeton of Valdosta and 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Brown, and a great grandson, Deane Anderson.
A funeral service for Mrs. Brown will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Carroll Joye and Rev. Bob Moon will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Halcyon Hospice, 101 E.
