Dewey Harley Thompson, 70, of Lake Park died at his residence on Friday, September 7, 2007. Formerly of Jacksonville, FL, Mr. Thompson had resided in Lake Park since 2002. He was born on December 17, 1936 in Crab Orchard, TN to the late Elmer Harley and Myrtle Chaffin Thompson. He attended Lake Park Church of God where he was an avid church worker involved in many activities including being a member of “Men of Action” and building mission churches, playing the steel guitar, and working as the church clerk. Mr. Thompson traveled to different parts of the world to assist in promoting the ministry and was inducted into the Lay Person’s Hall of Fame in the Church of God in Indianapolis, IN. He was a retired insurance salesman.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jenith Thompson of Lake Park; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Dale Mills of Jacksonville, FL, Linda and Leal Blondheim of Middleburg, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Sandra Thompson of Crossville, TN; grandchildren, Elizabeth Mills, Gregory Pittman and his wife, Jennifer Pittman, Matthew Carrino, Jonathan Allen, Christopher Blondheim, all of Jacksonville, FL; Alisa Tollett and her husband Kenneth Tollett, Timothy Joseph Thompson, all of Crossville, TN; three great grandchildren, Makayla Tollett and Tyler Thompson of Crossville, TN and Morgan Pittman of Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Thompson is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda Thompson, Eileen Holland, Cheryl and Tom Dixon all of Jacksonville, FL, Mary and Roy Anderson of Lake Park; brothers and sisters-in-law, Andrew Thompson of Lake Park, Lonnie and Marie Thompson of Blackshear, Redgie and Ann Thompson of Crossville, TN, Steven, Sr. and Lesley Thompson of Jacksonville, FL and Leroy Thompson of Lake Park; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 10, 2007 at Lake Park Church of God with the Reverend Keith Sandlin and Joe Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park, FL. Family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park.
