Dewey Evans

June 12, 1947 — July 22, 2015

Dewey Evans, 68, of Valdosta, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at South Georgia Medical Center.

He was born June 12, 1947 in Ocilla, a son of the late Clifford L. and Mildred Owens Evans. Mr. Evans had retired from Crackin' Good Bakery and was currently working at Staten Plantation. He was of the Baptist faith, he loved his children and grandchildren, and he enjoyed fishing, birds, gardening and his flowers.

Mr. Evans is survived by one son, Dewey Stanley Evans of Valdosta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Eddy Woodfin, and Sonya Rivera and Elwood Godwin, all of Lake Park; six grandchildren, Stanley Evans, Jr. and wife Katie, Ashley Bennett and husband Scott, April Jones and husband David, all of Lake Park, Jack Schroepfer, Jr. and wife Kayla of Remerton, Jayme Woodfin, and Edwin Rivera and wife Ganine, all of Lake Park; eight great-grandchildren, Brooke and Karlie Bennett, Lawton and Jackson Jones, Leanna and Bentley Evans and Zadie and El'lisa Rivera; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Joyce Aver, Glenda and Lyn Chapman, all of Bainbridge, and Martha Jean and Jack Roberts of Lakeland; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Charles and Jeanette Evans, James and Pat Evans, all of Valdosta, Billy and Linda Evans of Macon, Jerry and Anita Evans of North Carolina, and Jimmy Evans of Florida; a sister-in-law, Helen Evans of Ray City; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Sylvia Clanton of Valdosta. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Clara Evans; a granddaughter, Harley Woodfin; a daughter-in-law, Ann Evans; and two brothers, C.W. Evans and Earnest Evans.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Evans will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Pastor Robby Harrington officiating. Interment will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
