Delphia Zipperer Peace, 97, died on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born on January 26, 1917 in Lowndes County to the late Charles Edward and Lucy Roberts Zipperer and has been a resident of this area all her life. Mrs. Peace had worked for years in the child care industry working in day care settings as well as private caregiving. She loved her church with all her heart and was a blessing to all who knew her. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She loved music and would often sing while working around the house. Mrs. Peace was a member of Azalea City Church of God.
Survivors include her son, Raymond Peace (Karen Evans) of Valdosta; a daughter, Sandra Peace Tamargo of Ashburn; a grandson, Timothy Tamargo of Virginia; a granddaughter and her husband, Elizabeth and Brad Barbee of Ashburn; grandsons, Nathan Tamargo of California and Raymond Tamargo of Atlanta; great-granddaughters, Lily, Laci, and Laurie Barbee of Ashburn; sisters-in-law, Hazel Zipperer of Valdosta and Hilda Zipperer of Rome, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Peace, Sr.; her parents; her sisters, Viva Jones, Blanche Kelly, Aleph Breland, Floride Miller, and Vivian Zipperer; and by her brothers, Aubrey, Lawrence, Stanley, Foster, and Leonard Zipperer. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the many special caregivers and most especially to Carla, Sheila, and Betty for all the support and care given to the family. Special thanks also goes to CuraCare, ACTO, My Friend's House, ResCare, and to Azalea Church of God and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church for the support and prayers over the years.
Services for Delphia Zipperer Peace will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Raymond Gabbard and Rev. Roger Mays officiating. The burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 a.m. at the church.
