Delores McLeod Parrish, 84, of Valdosta, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020 at Fellowship Home. She was born on May 24, 1935, to the late A.B. and Elma Hughes McLeod and was a lifelong resident of Lowndes County. Delores was a faithful member of Central Avenue Church of Christ. She retired as Treasurer from The Langdale Company after 52 years of service. She enjoyed her job and considered it a privilege to work there each day. Following her retirement, The Langdale Foundation honored her by the naming and dedication of The Delores M. Parrish Children's Advocacy Center.
She graduated from Lake Park High School where she was an outstanding basketball player, often the leading scorer. There she met her future husband, Billy Parrish. He was the love of her life. They were married almost 65 years. Delores loved genealogy and was actively involved in many clubs, including the General James Jackson DAR, UDC Chapter 471, Sgt. Benjamin Exum Daughters of 1812, Wiregrass Southern Dames, Colonial Dames, Brushy Creek Indian Wars and the Historical Societies of Lowndes Co., Echols Co., Lake Park, and Dasher. She was also a member of Quota Club and Wymodausis.
Delores is survived by her beloved husband, Billy Parrish, one daughter and son-in-law, Billie Ann and Kirby Hall, and one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Kim Parrish. She had four grandchildren, Shannon Hall Thomas, Garrett and Amanda Hall, Colby Jess and Danielle Hall, and Camden Parrish. She had five great-grandchildren, Heidi and Chloe Thomas, Ava and Grayson Hall, and Gracelyn Hall.
She is also survived by sisters, Faye Clifton and Barbara Wellman, one brother and sister-in-law, Woody and Carla McLeod, her sisters-in-law, Betty Jo McLeod Bell, Marian Parrish, Laquita Parrish McLeod and a brother-in-law, Andy Anderson. Delores was preceded in death by a brother, Julian McLeod and a sister, Geraldine Clifton.
Her family wishes to thank Teresa Wood for her special care of Delores prior to her admission to Fellowship Home. We are also very grateful and wish to thank the staff at Fellowship Home for their care and kindness to Mrs. Parrish.
