Della G. "Gail" Apperson, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the age of 81 in Festus, MO, while residing at Riverview at the Park in Ste. Genevieve, MO. Gail was a remarkable woman who had achieved many accomplishments throughout her life. She graduated from Andalusia High School and served as a proud member of the US Army, working as a legal secretary in the JAG department during the Vietnam Era. Gail was actively involved in various organizations, such as the VFW and American Legion.
One of Gail's passions was gardening, and she took great pride in cultivating and caring for her wide variety of flowers. She possessed a green thumb and had a meticulous approach to tending to her garden. Additionally, Gail enjoyed partaking in bowling and playing cards at family reunions. Her outgoing nature and love for being the center of attention made her a vibrant presence in any gathering.
Above all, Gail cherished her family and friends with all her heart. Her love for them was immeasurable, and her absence will be deeply felt. Gail was born on July 10, 1942, in Andalusia, AL, to J. Randall and Katherine (Radford) Bozeman, both of whom preceded her in death. Furthermore, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Cecil Apperson, in 1989, and her brother Houston Bozeman.
Gail is survived by her three daughters: Cindy Cherry (Eugene), Kathy Rawls, and Lisa Auten (Mark Harris), as well as her son, Andy Rawls (Anna), and a step-daughter, Vicky Miller. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gene, Monique, Adam, Austin, Abbie, Cheyenne, Kegen, Elijiah, Josh, and Brandi, her great-grandchildren, David, Violet, Paul, Rosie, Jackson, Sam, Shae, Grady, Charlotte, Aubrey, Trenton, Kane, Mya, Zoey, Michael, Caedence, and Anslie, and her great-great-grandchild, Jaxon. Gail is also survived by her sister-in-law, Virginia Bozeman, residing in Georgia.
There will be a graveside service to honor Gail's memory at 10am on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Those who wish to express their condolences or share memories can do so at www.mclanecares.com.
