Dean Raymond Rexroth

August 25, 1955 — April 17, 2023

Dean Raymond Rexroth, 67, went peacefully to the Lord on Monday April 17th, 2023, with his beloved wife, Lisa Huffman Rexroth, of 17 years and his children by his side. Dean was preceded in death by his parents Robert James and Mary Ruth Davis Rexroth, father-in-law Philip Huffman, and brother-in-law Timothy Roberts. He leaves behind his 5 children, Nichole and Dustin Janak, James and Alexa Rexroth, Mackenzie and Drew Edwards, Ellen and Lt. Col. Raylee Cavasier, Harvey Ashford Philip Wilson, and 2 beautiful granddaughters, Amelia Kate Cavasier and Cheyenne Sutton, all of whom will miss his joyful presence.

In addition, Dean is survived by his siblings Rollie and Tania Rexroth, Keith and Nancy Rexroth, Nancy and Dave Nyffeler, and a huge extended and blended family of cousins, nieces and nephews, including his mother-in-law Sue Baxley Huffman and sister-in law Phyllis Huffman Roberts who loved him like a son and brother for nearly 20 years.

Dean was born in Sidney, Nebraska and raised alongside his siblings at the Rexroth family farm in Gurley, Nebraska. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Dean used his life to develop people and cultivate beautiful spaces. As an architect and Vice President of IPG, Incorporated in Valdosta, GA, where he resided for the last 32 years, he left his mark of creativity and enduring work-ethic on many buildings and spaces both within the city and around the country. His efforts as a former member of the Valdosta City Board of Education and recreation league soccer coach demonstrated his loyalty to the community and opportunities for youth empowerment.

Dean’s decisive optimism encouraged those who knew him to exercise gratitude and look for the good in all circumstances – a principle instilled in him from his father and his faith in the Lord, he made certain to impart to his family. Their dog-walking, family anchor, Dean’s commitment to his loved ones tethered each of them to him and one another. His ability to make each of his family members feel and understand their unique value is a gift that cannot be replaced. This talent extended to his friends, colleagues, and the young people he coached.

Though he will be greatly missed here, the family is comforted by the certainty that he has found Heaven to have perfect design and structural integrity.

Dean’s memorial service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Park Avenue Church, 100 E Park Avenue, Valdosta, GA 31602. Visitation to follow.
