David Vinson Hogan, 76, of Valdosta died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at his home. He was born on November 7, 1932 in Irwin County to Euna Mae Mixon Hogan and the late David Jonathan Hogan and had lived in this area for many years. Mr. Hogan was a model husband and father who loved his church and family very much and was a member of the Hahira First Baptist Church. He loved to restore cars, fish and hunt. He was employed with Owens-Illinois for forty three years and a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War.
Survivors include his one and only wife of 53 years, Joan Hogan of Valdosta, son and daughter in law, Rick and Cindy Hogan of Lake Mary, Fla., daughter and son in law, Karen and David Gordon of Valdosta, four grandchildren, Heather Hogan of Knoxville, TN., Rick Hogan, Jr. of Dallas, GA., Derek (Katie) Gordon of Hahira and Ryan Gordon of Valdosta, three great grandchildren, Dylan Gordon, Jackson Hogan and Ethan Vinson Gordon, his mother, Euna Mae Mixon Hogan of Ocilla, one sister and brother in law, Betty Jo and Paul Hankins of Jacksonville, Fla., four brothers and three sisters in law, Billy and Beth Hogan, Dwight and Nell Hogan, Bobby Hogan all of Alapaha and Marshall and Brenda Hogan of Aurora, CO. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Josie Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the Hahira First Baptist Church with his son in law, the Rev. David Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the Springhill Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hahira First Bapitst Church, P.
