David Michael Rouse, 40, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully in the company of his family and entered the eternal kingdom of Heaven on July 30, 2018, following a brief battle with cancer.
David was born in Valdosta and attended Lowndes High School, where he played drums in the Georgia Bridgemen marching band. He was an active member of Greenwood Baptist Church most of his life. In 2000, he moved to metro Atlanta and later married Katie Cannon of Stockbridge (2004). They built their life together in Cobb County, and their daughter, Callie (born in 2015), was the highlight of his life and apple of his eye. David spent the last seven years working in sales for Apple at the Perimeter Mall store in Dunwoody, where he was dearly loved by the entire staff.
He was a kind, helpful and genuine man who cherished his family and lived out his Christian faith. David is survived by his wife, Katie; daughter, Callie; parents, Pam and Lee Tucker, and Elaine and Jerry Rouse; sister and brother in-law, Beth and Josh Prince; and nephews Jeremiah, Jonah and Joe Prince; his uncle Joey Tucker and grandparents Dale Tucker and Frank Rouse. Katie’s family embraced him as their own, and her mother, sister, nephew, and extended family will miss him dearly, as will other loved ones on both his mom’s and dad’s sides of the family.
A service to celebrate David’s life will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, at David and Katie’s home church in Atlanta, Trinity Anglican (Westside). Family will receive friends at 10 a.m., with the service following at 11.
There will also be a visitation at Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6, and a service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Greenwood Baptist.
David was committed to providing the best education he could for Callie, so in lieu of flowers, gifts can go to supporting her ongoing educational needs. Deposits can be made in-person at LGE Community Credit Union to a savings account in David’s name, titled “Callie’s Education.” Checks can also be written to Katie Rouse and mailed to DeMoss at 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 1000, Atlanta, GA 30326. David’s family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the countless people who have prayed for and supported them during his brief illness and who will continue to do so.
