David Clayton Hatcher Sr., 85, 106 Snapper Place, Palatka, Florida died Tuesday March 11, 2014. Mr. Hatcher lived in the Melbourne area since 1964. He retired around age 80 and moved to be closer to his children. Born on May 30, 1928 in Dothan, Alabama, to the late Thomas Eiffel (T.E.) Hatcher and Hettye Lee Hatcher. He loved to fish and play golf most of his life.
His greatest accomplishment was his family, which he cherished dearly. Survivors include his children, David C. Jr, Tampa, FL, Dianne Fortenberry, Bostwick, FL, Daniel, Jacksonville, and Donald, Palatka, FL. His pride and joy were his seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Hatcher came from a very large, loving family of ten children. Survivors include a brother, Emory Green Hatcher, Denver Colorado, and two sisters, Bettye Jeanne Nichols and Anita Shelton both of Valdosta, Georgia. Along with his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife Mary Ethel Hatcher, seven siblings and his step-mother who help raise the family, Margaret Elmira (Elma) Baxter Hatcher.
Graveside services will be held for Mr. Hatcher on Saturday, March 22 at 2:00 PM at Good Hope Baptist Cemetery in Naylor, Georgia. Condolences may be conveyed at www.mclanecares.com. All arrangements are being made by Carson-McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta, Georgia.
