David Carl Lewis, Grandaddy, GPa, and our family patriarch left this earth and into the arms of his Creator on January 31, 2022. David was born February 17, 1938 and lived all his life in South Georgia. He is survived by his loving and deeply devoted wife of 65 years, Betty Jean.
In life, David’s most important element was family, near and far; in his final days he was surrounded by family and loved ones knowing he was deeply loved. He is survived in death by his wife, Betty Jean, son, David Alan (Kim), daughter Ann (Brett), grandchildren Benjamin (Christy), Stefanie (Phil), Daniel (Katie), Joshua (Aaron), and Lindsey (Brandon). Later in life, these grandchildren gave David eleven more great-grandchildren which brought him endless amounts of joy and happiness. Those included Treyton, Courtney, Brody and Bentlea (Ben), Phillip, Victoria and Alexandria (Stefanie), Ethan and Westin (Daniel), and April and Tommy (Lindsey).
David was a proud member of the Azalea Lodge #716 of the Free Masons in Valdosta, and an active member of First Baptist Church of Lake Park. He was also a well-known member of the community, having been known to frequent the Gold Plate restaurant, and Miller Hardware in Valdosta.
