Daniel Lavin "Danny" Carter

Daniel Lavin "Danny" Carter, 71, of Lanett, Alabama, died at his residence on Sunday, July 2, 2017. He was born on July 2, 1946 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late Lenial and Ann Carter. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served on the USS Saratoga during the Viet Nam War. Mr. Carter was the owner/operator for over 20 years with Quality Radiator Service of Valdosta and served the local community through his efforts in coaching baseball with the YMCA and as a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts #402. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Denise Carter of Lanett, Alabama; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis Carter of Lanett, Alabama, David and Elise Carter of Valley, Alabama, Duane Carter and his fiancé, Traci Byrd both of Palm Coast, Florida, Dean Carter of Woodland, Alabama; grandchildren, Christopher Carter of Ft. Riley, Kansas, Kayley Carter of Houston, Texas, Tristen Carter of Schertz, Texas, Stephanie Carter, Ashlynn Carter, and Rebekah Carter all of Valley, Alabama, Erin Carter and Caty Carter both of Valdosta, Victoria Carter and Jennifer Carter both of Woodland, Alabama; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and David Mathis of Valdosta; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jan and Colin Smith, Jennifer and Gordon Reid, and Malcolm Moore all of England, UK.; several nieces and nephews.
Services for Daniel Lavin "Danny" Carter will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
