Daniel Everett Maxwell, 87, of Lake Park, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 11, 2018, with his loving wife, Joyce and daughter Sharon by his side. Born March 15, 1931 in Riverside, California to the late Seth Andrew Maxwell and Rose Mae Moss Maxwell. He grew up in San Angelo, Texas with his brothers, David, Phillip (Deceased), Carl and his sister, Evelyn. While attending Trevecca Nazarene College he met and married Mary Joyce Cole in Nashville, Tennessee on December 1, 1951. After serving in the Army he settled his family in Orlando, Florida in 1957. He worked as an engineer in the space shuttle program and the external tank program at Martin Marietta (Lockheed Martin) for 29 years. Serving both the Orlando, Florida and New Orleans, Louisiana locations. After retiring, he moved to Lake Park, Georgia where he resided for 22 years. He was a member of the New Life Lake Park Church and formerly a member of the Nazarene denomination where he pastored churches in Leesburg, Florida and Houma, Louisiana.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Joyce Maxwell; his children, Sharon Peterson (Dan) of Flower Mound, Texas, Cynthia Terrio of Apopka, Florida and Stephen Maxwell (Carol) of Pearl River, Louisiana; grandchildren, Jeremy McPherson (Danae) of Ocoee, Florida, Jonathan Terrio of Apopka, Florida, Matthew Maxwell (Donna) of Pearl River, Louisiana, Rachel Maxwell of Pearl River, Louisiana; great grandchildren, Makena McPherson, Micah McPherson, Kaleb McPherson, and Christopher Maxwell; his siblings, David Maxwell of Los Gatos, California, Evelyn Norvell of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Carl Maxwell of St. Cloud, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Lake Park Church 7505 Ziegler SE Road, Lake Park, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service on Wednesday from 1 – 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association at www.alz.org in memory of Daniel Everett Maxwell.
